Owning Your Power Workshop for Students
Are you concerned about the negative messages that your student hears and about how those messages may impact their self-esteem?
These negative messages, whether intentional or unintentional, may come from peers, friends, teachers, and even family members. They may also come from what they hear and see on TV, in movies, and on social media.
Are you concerned that your student might internalize these messages, resulting in negative self-talk?
To navigate the challenges of elementary school and life beyond, students must understand their worth.
In the Owning Your Power Workshop, students will complete activities and engage in discussion that will help them understand their gifts and support a positive self-esteem.
Using the SELF method, students will:
~Explore their unique strengths, talents, and accomplishments, gaining insight into their own capabilities, so that they SEE that they are awesome just as they are
~Reflect on the positive feelings they EXPERIENCE when they think about their strengths, talents, and accomplishments
~Learn the joy of what happens when they LIVE with the power of embracing their gifts
~Begin a mindset shift that will FREE them of the negative impact of the words of others
Students will leave the Owing Your Power Workshop more aware of their self-worth and equipped with strategies to protect their self-esteem from negative messages. They will learn not to internalize harmful comments or doubts from others.
Details
Format: Each interactive session includes discussion and 2-3 activities such as journaling, crafting, and games.
Audience: Recommended for grades 3-5
Class size: 8-30 students
Location: School or organization's facility in DuPage, Will, Kane, or Kendall County in Illinois.
Format: 75-90 minutes
